HIP HOP LIBRARY

You are welcome to the Hip Hop Library, the first resource in Russia dedicated to the study of hip hop culture, archives and hip hop education. Our project is implemented through educational programs aimed at the development of local communities, non-formal education and critical thinking. The main goal of the project is to attract young people and all interested in creating an «educational environment» that combines leisure, education and professional activities. Hip hop culture and «Knowledge», as an established element of artistic practices, is the main focus of the Hip Hop Library. However, we are also open to working with any other local communities, activist associations and non-profit organizations. We implement our programs in several main areas: holding events, creating a database with relevant materials, interacting with large government and commercial organizations, developing a network of NGOs and international activities.

Scientific activities playing great role in the center functioning within the framework of the actual study of street culture: seminars and round tables, the publication of methodological literature, joint projects with leading scientific institutions (including the Institute of Natural and Cultural Heritage of D.A. Likhachev, RAO, the Swedish Institute, the University of Helsinki, the Dortmund University of Technology, Trinity College etc.). In  Hip Hop library we also having a small collection of literature, which exists in electronic form and in the form of publications. It includes not only books, but also articles, magazines, notes, brochures, comics, scientific papers, albums and etc.
